SEAGA, the Southeast Asian Geography Association, founded in 1990, serves as a pivotal regional network connecting geographers and a diverse array of professionals from academia, education, government, and the private sector. Our members span disciplines including geography, geosciences, environmental sciences, history, sociology and urban planning, reflecting the multidisciplinary nature of contemporary geographical research. The 2025 SEAGA Conference, to be held in Singapore, is organized by SEAGA. This conference aims to foster robust dialogue on pressing regional issues, emphasizing the intersection of geography with sustainability, socio-economic development, and environmental management in Southeast Asia. By bringing together scholars, policymakers, educators, and industry leaders, SEAGA 2025 aspires to create a dynamic platform that addresses the complex challenges and opportunities facing our region, while contributing to a sustainable and resilient future for Southeast Asia.
Conference Theme: “Sustainability and the Future of Southeast Asia”
The theme of SEAGA 2025, “Sustainability and the Future of Southeast Asia,” addresses the urgent need for sustainable development in a region marked by dynamic socio-economic growth and environmental challenges. We invite scholars, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and educators to contribute multidimensional perspectives that explore the nexus of sustainability with culture, space, and place within or on Southeast Asia. This conference aims to advance critical discourse that will inform decision-making across society, private enterprise, and government, fostering a more sustainable and resilient future for the region and beyond.
First Call for papers
We are pleased to announce the first call for papers for SEAGA 2025. Abstract submissions are now open, and we invite contributions that align with the conference theme, “Sustainability and the Future of Southeast Asia.” Being an inclusive scholarly association, SEAGA will also consider abstracts that present comparative studies involving Southeast Asia and/or from other world regions that are relevant to conference theme. All submitted abstracts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the highest academic standards.
