SEAGA Conference 2010 in Hanoi, Vietnam

SEAGA, the Southeast Asian Geography Association, is an association of geographers and professionals in related fields like history, the geo and environmental sciences, urban planning and others in academia, education, government and the private sector in the region. The SEAGA Conference 2010 is also the 10th conference that is being organised since the association was established in 1990.

 

Conference Theme

Changing space, place and cultures of Asia is the conference theme in 2010 and we are inviting multidimensional perspectives of this issue from scholars, policy makers and entrepreneurs as well as researchers and teachers. The aim of the conference is to advance the discourse on the issues of changing space, place and cultures in Asia, so as to inform citizens, enterprises and governments in their actions.

K1 Building, Hanoi National University of Education. (in Vietnamese: "Dai hoc Su pham Ha Noi"), 136 Xuan Thuy Rd., Cau Giay Dist., Hanoi. FAQ: SEAGA 2010 Special Fieldtrip for Singapore Teachers

What is this special field trip all about?

This is a fieldtrip organised specially for Singapore teachers to take advantage of the conference in Hanoi. The itinerary and flyer are attached here for your reference.

How do I register?

Does the cost of the trip include the conference fee?

The cost of the fieldtrip cum conference package is SGD$1250 (based on airfare rate as of 15 September 2010).
The package includes the following:

  • Airfare
  • Accommodation for 6 nights (with breakfast)
  • Conference registration (worth USD$250)
  • Transfers and transportation for all fieldtrips

Note that meals are not included in this package., except where stated.
 

Will there be halal/kosher food provided? If not, can I, at least ,get a seafood or vegetarian meal cooked without alcohol/lard

The organisers of the conference will be alerted to the require for no park, no lard and no alcohol requirment for muslim delegates. However, there is one halal restaurant in the old quarters in Hanoi that you can consider to augment your meals.

Is there any grant, funding or subsidy for this trip?

Unfortunately there is none at the moment but we are working with some clusters on some funding opportunity. Do subscribe to our RSS feed to get the latest news, especially those on funding.

What type of accommodation, climate, what clothes to wear, etc should I expect?

The organisers will work towards a reasonably well furnished 3-4 star hotel within the Hanoi Old Quarters so that comfort, accessibility and budget are all taken into due consideration.

Is there a deadline for registration?

The package is on a first come first served basis. We can only take up to 30 people. As of now, we have close to 25 applicants. You may want to register very soon. Officially, the deadline is 1 October 2010.

Can non-Singapore teachers apply?

Unfortunately, this is a special fieldtrip organised for Singapore teachers. Other fieldtrips will be organised for international delegate and details will be announced later.
